Sarah Joanne Davis, soprano

Soprano Sarah Davis has performed throughout the North East in song recitals, operas (including Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress and the title role in Massenet’s Cendrillon), oratorios, and other major choral works. She made her Kimmel Center debut last fall in Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Ama Deus Ensemble, under the baton of Valentin Radu. She made her Carnegie Hall debut in January of 2008 at the Winner’s Recital of the Barry Alexander Intl. Vocal Competition, gave a duo song recital at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater, and, as Artist in Residence, participated in
the Art Song Festival at Baldwin- Wallace College. Three summers were spent in Malibu singing at SongFest with American composers Jake Heggie, John Harbison and Ricky Ian Gordon. Ms. Davis had the honor of premiering Harbison’s grand aria for soprano and piano, Vocalism I in 2007. Most recently, Ms. Davis was in residency as a Vocal Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center in Massachusetts. In the Fall of 2009, Ms. Davis will appear as soloist at the Kimmel Center in the Haydn Bicentennial Gala, also under the baton of Maestro Valentin Radu. She received a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor’s degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
